Softball Game Preview: Hamilton Marines vs. Elkhart Christian Academy Eagles

For the second straight game, Hamilton will face off against Elkhart Christian Academy. The Marines will square off against the Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

On Friday, Hamilton came up short against Elkhart Christian Academy and fell 6-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Marines in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.

For Elkhart Christian Academy's part, Brianna Ehninger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Ehninger has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Naomi Herbster was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one triple, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Ella Barnes also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Elkhart Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 3-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Hamilton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
