Recap: Walnut Wildcats vs. Middleton Tigers

If the Walnut Wildcats were feeling good off their 97-71 takedown of the Mantachie Mustangs on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Walnut took a 57-41 bruising from Middleton on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Walnut has scored all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Middleton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jordan Woody, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. Woody set a new season high mark in steals with three. Another player making a difference was Taquinis Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Walnut's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-6. As for Middleton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.

Walnut will finish 2023 at home by hosting Shannon at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Middleton's road trip will continue as they head out to face Falkner at 10:00 a.m. on December 28th. Falkner will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 236th in Mississippi, while Middleton is ranked 91st in Tennessee).
