Softball Recap: Elk River Comes Up Short

Elk River extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-6 in the process. They lost 13-1 to the Blaine Bengals. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 9, 2018, but that streak is no more.

As for Blaine, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

For Blaine's part, the team relied heavily on Kayla Shaffer, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Shaffer has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Marin Aman, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and three runs.

Coming up, Elk River will challenge St. Francis at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Elks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Fighting Saints have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Blaine, they will face off against Totino-Grace at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
