Baseball Game Preview: Hill-Murray Pioneers vs. Mahtomedi Zephyrs

The Hill-Murray Pioneers are taking a road trip to face off against the Mahtomedi Zephyrs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Hill-Murray will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Hill-Murray's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Tartan.

Meanwhile, Mahtomedi had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Spartans, sneaking past 4-2.

Hill-Murray pushed their record up to 11-2-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mahtomedi, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.

Hill-Murray came out on top in a nail-biter against Mahtomedi when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pioneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
