Baseball Game Preview: Acadiana Christian Lions vs. First Baptist Christian Eagles

The Acadiana Christian Lions will take on the First Baptist Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Acadiana Christian has four straight victories, First Baptist Christian has 14 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

The Lions' pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Defenders with a sharp 13-0 win. Considering the Lions have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Isaiah Burch and Lane Parks did most of the damage at the plate: Burch went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Parks scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those four RBI gave Burch a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brandon Judice, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

The Lions were getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .385 or higher in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, First Baptist Christian came up short against John Paul the Great Academy on Tuesday, falling 18-2.

The Lions pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for First Baptist Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Acadiana Christian took their victory against First Baptist Christian in their previous matchup back in February by a conclusive 18-3. Does Acadiana Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will First Baptist Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
