Baseball Recap: Madison Has No Trouble Against Spruce Mountain

Madison never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Spruce Mountain on Monday. They put the hurt on the Phoenix with a sharp 11-1 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bulldogs' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Jayden Horton spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Madison got a big performance out of Owhen VanGordon, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Xavier Estes, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Madison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Madison now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Spruce Mountain, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.
