Softball Recap: Pacheco Comes Up Short

Pacheco lost against Johansen back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Panthers took a 16-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. Even if the Panthers couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Emma Landeros made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Daijah Young, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Pacheco's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Johansen, their win ended a 16-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pacheco will host Ceres at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Johansen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lathrop at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
