Basketball Game Preview: Lawrenceville Indians vs. North Clay/Clay City

Lawrenceville is 0-3 against North Clay/Clay City since February of 2022 but things could change on Wednesday. The Lawrenceville Indians will head out to take on North Clay/Clay City at 6:15 p.m. Lawrenceville will be strutting in after a win while North Clay/Clay City will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Monday, Lawrenceville made easy work of Red Hill and carried off a 50-25 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Indians have posted against the Salukis since February 8, 2021.

Meanwhile, North Clay/Clay City lost to Robinson at home by a 57-40 margin on Monday. While losing is never fun, North Clay/Clay City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 485th, while Robinson is ranked 211th).

North Clay/Clay City has also been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. As for Lawrenceville, their victory bumped their record up to 12-17.

Lawrenceville lost to North Clay/Clay City on the road by a decisive 56-40 margin in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Lawrenceville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
