Football Recap: St. David Tigers vs. Hayden Lobos
After flying high against Superior last Friday, St. David came back down to earth. The Tigers had to suffer through a 51-14 loss at the hands of the Hayden Lobos. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Tigers, who until this game were averaging nine points allowed.
Despite the loss, St. David still got an impressive performance from Chase Pacheco, who picked up 53 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also punched in one score on the ground.
Hayden got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kino Lorona out in front who rushed for 193 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Lorona didn't just play on offense: he also made nine total tackles and defended two passes in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown. Tyler Garner also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Having lost for the first time this season, St. David fell to 6-1. As for Hayden, their record is now 7-0.
Looking ahead, St. David will head out to face off against Fort Thomas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers are facing the Apaches at the right time seeing as the Apaches are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Hayden, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cicero Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lobos will be up against the Centurions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
