With a playoff win on the line, Calvary Baptist rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 79-53 margin over the Costa Mesa Mustangs. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 games by 20 points or more this season.

When it comes to explaining why Costa Mesa lost, don't look at Parker Hylton. Despite the final result, he went 7-for-15 on his way to 21 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ternandez Calloway Jr., who posted ten points along with eight boards and six assists.

The victory (which was Calvary Baptist's fourth in a row) raised their record to 21-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points over those games. As for Costa Mesa, they dropped their record down to 10-18 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cougars challenge the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Elsinore knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 matchups -- so hopefully Calvary Baptist likes a good challenge. Costa Mesa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
