Baseball Recap: Silver Bluff Comes Up Short

Silver Bluff had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 7-10 to make it five. They lost 13-3 to the Fox Creek Predators. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Predators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-1 on Tuesday.

Silver Bluff saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tanner Sullivan, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

As for Fox Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

On Fox Creek's side, Will Frischmann made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Frischmann has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, earning three RBI and one run.

In other pitching news, Cameron Porter looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Dylan Altman, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Hayden James was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Coincidentally, Silver Bluff and Fox Creek will both be playing Newberry the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will head out to face the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Predators will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
