Volleyball Recap: Masconomet Regional Triumphs

While Masconomet Regional's win against Ipswich wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Chieftains skirted past the Tigers 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Chieftains in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won eight in a row.

Masconomet Regional had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 20-25, 25-16, 25-16, 15-8.

Masconomet Regional had a senior duo take command as Lidia Benedetto had 11 digs and seven aces and Elise Clapp had ten aces. With that strong performance, Clapp is now averaging an impressive 2.5 aces per game.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Julia Sores, who had four aces. Amani Makuwa also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.

Masconomet Regional's record is now 11-7. As for Ipswich, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Masconomet Regional didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Essex Tech on the 23rd. Ipswich does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
