Baseball Recap: Summit Hilltoppers vs. Johnson Crusaders

Summit managed to slip by Johnson the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Hilltoppers lost 10-0 to the Crusaders on Saturday. The Hilltoppers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Summit got a good showing from Matt Kurek, who tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Summit saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was TJ Flack, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Connor Moon also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Summit's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Johnson, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summit will take on Cranford at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Johnson, they will face off against Elizabeth at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
