Baseball Recap: Fairfield Triumphs

Fairfield's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Hamilton County Foxes 6-4. The Mules haven't had any issues with the Foxes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Tallen Hixenbaugh made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caleb King, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Jesse King was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Fairfield's record now sits at 7-5. As for Hamilton County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Fairfield will have a chance to go back-to-back against Hamilton County: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
