Basketball Recap: Battle Ground Takes a Loss

Battle Ground was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 39-38 heartbreaker at the hands of the Tumwater Thunderbirds. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 128th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tumwater to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sahara Anthony III, who posted 11 points. Luke Overbay was another key player, putting up six points and ten boards.

Battle Ground's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Tumwater, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Battle Ground has already played their next game (against Skyview), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Tumwater will be playing in front of their home fans against Shelton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Tumwater's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Shelton has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
