Baseball Game Preview: Seminole Seminoles vs. West Orange Warriors

The Seminole Seminoles are taking a road trip to face off against the West Orange Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Seminole has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 18.

On Tuesday, Seminole came up short against Lake Brantley and fell 4-1.

Blake Manley was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Seminole saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jadenlee Echavarria, who went 1-for-3 with one double. Gavin Matala also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for West Orange's offense. They fell just short of Winter Park by a score of 1-0 on Friday.

Parker Hohnstock spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

West Orange's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Seminole, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

Everything went Seminole's way against West Orange when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Seminole made off with an 8-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Seminole since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
