Volleyball Recap: Liberty Gets the Win

Ellington typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Liberty proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Whippets. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Liberty was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-23, 21-25, 26-24.

Among those leading the charge was Jade Acklin, who had nine digs and three aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in September.

They weren't the only good servers: Liberty was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Ellington still got an impressive performance from Klair Farmer, who had 12 digs. Addie Buford was another key player, getting nine digs and one assist.

Liberty's win bumped their record up to 17-8-4. As for Ellington, with the loss, they broke their 16-match winning streak and moved their record to 24-4-1.

Liberty wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Salem on the 14th. As for Ellington, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Arcadia Valley on the 10th.
