Softball Game Preview: Bertie Falcons vs. Perquimans Pirates

Bertie is 1-6 against Perquimans since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Bertie will head out to face off against Perquimans at 5:00 p.m. Bertie has given up an average of 12.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bertie is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Tarboro 36-26 on Friday. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Bertie got a massive performance out of Jasmine Taylor, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyvia Akkerman, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with six stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.

Bertie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .793. The last time their OBP was this high was since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Perquimans suffered their closest defeat since April 16, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Greenbrier Christian Academy by a score of 6-4. The matchup marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Perquimans fell to 4-1. As for Bertie, their record now sits at 4-5.

Bertie might still be hurting after the 16-0 loss they got from Perquimans in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Bertie avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
