Basketball Game Preview: Cathedral Fighting Irish vs. Center Grove Trojans

The Cathedral Fighting Irish are taking a road trip to take on the Center Grove Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Cathedral's tournament run continued when they took on Indianapolis Bishop Chatard on Friday. Cathedral secured a 48-43 W over Indianapolis Bishop Chatard.

Meanwhile, Center Grove faced Lawrence North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Center Grove had just enough and edged Lawrence North out 59-56.

Center Grove pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Cathedral, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Cathedral, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 53-37 loss to Center Grove in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Can Cathedral avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
