Volleyball Recap: Arcata's Run of Six Straight Wins Now Over

After a string of six wins, Arcata's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Orland Trojans. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.

While Arcata ultimately came up short, they really made Orland work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 26-24.

Nora Brumbaugh paced Arcata's offense, picking up four kills. Brumbaugh got some help from Harper Appy and her nine assists. Finally, Kyla Kinyon kept Arcata's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Among those leading the charge was Lillianna Rowe, who had seven kills, two aces, and one block.

Arcata's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Orland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season.

Arcata will head out on the road to take on Eureka at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The match will give the Tigers their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Orland, they have already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Yreka on the 16th.
