It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Santa Clara ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Carlmont Scots. The victory was nothing new for the Bruins as they're now sitting on 16 straight.

The team relied heavily on Greg Salgado, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season. Zach Gallegos was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Santa Clara kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carlmont only managed six hits.

Santa Clara pushed their record up to 25-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Carlmont, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-15 record this season.

As of now, neither Santa Clara nor Carlmont have any future games scheduled.
