Washington hadn't done well against Jefferson recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Washington Patriots walked away with a 60-52 victory over the Jefferson Cougars. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Cougars are ranked 43rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Washington to victory were Jasiah King and Keyan Proctor. King posted 16 points along with six assists and five rebounds, while Proctor went 5 for 8 on his way to 11 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Dj Boardley, who earned 11 points and five boards.

Washington has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points over those games. As for Jefferson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Washington wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 66-54 win against Martinsburg on the 10th. As for Jefferson, they will face off against Musselman at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
