Football Recap: State College Little Lions vs. Gateway Gators
State College had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Gateway Gators 49-14 on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.
Eddie Corkery was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 218 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt. Cooper Brushwood made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
State College wouldn't let Gateway keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. State College can thank Robert Strayer and Ty Salazer for forcing both of them.
State College will be defending their home-field for the first time for the first time when they go up against Altoona at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Altoona focused on turnovers this week as team gave up five on Friday. As for Gateway, they will take on North Allegheny at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
