Basketball Game Preview: Brownell Talbot Raiders vs. Elmwood-Murdock Knights

Brownell Talbot is 0-5 against Elmwood-Murdock since December of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The two teams will round out the year against one another at at 11:30 a.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Saturday, Brownell Talbot came up short against Concordia and fell 36-25. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Elmwood-Murdock's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell to Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 40-35.

Brownell Talbot will have to keep a close watch on Annie Backemeyer and Brooke Goudie, a pair of players who had a big impact on Elmwood-Murdock's prior game. Backemeyer went 9 of 16 on her way to 20 points and six rebounds, while Goudie posted five points along with six rebounds and three steals. Those 20 points gave Backemeyer a new career-high.

Elmwood-Murdock's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Brownell Talbot, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Brownell Talbot ended up a good deal behind Elmwood-Murdock when the teams last played back in February, losing 60-41. Can Brownell Talbot avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
