Basketball Recap: River Hill Takes a Loss

River Hill played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Marriotts Ridge Mustangs, falling 63-39. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Hawks have suffered since January 13, 2025.

When it comes to explaining why River Hill lost, don't look at Mason Rooths. Despite the final result, he posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Ethan Makode, who put up nine points.

It was another big night for Aaron Hammann, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards for Marriotts Ridge. Sam Tatarov was another key player, going 5-for-11 on his way to 12 points.

River Hill has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Marriotts Ridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Coincidentally, River Hill and Marriotts Ridge will both be playing Glenelg the next time they take the court. The Mustangs will head out to face the Gladiators at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Hawks will head out to face them on the 28th.
