Volleyball Recap: Moose Lake/Willow River Triumphs

Moose Lake/Willow River hadn't done well against Pine City recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Rebels had just enough and edged out the Dragons 3-2. This was payback for the Rebels, who suffered a 2-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Moose Lake/Willow River got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 16-25, 26-24, 18-25, 15-7.

Pine City's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Player #12, who had 14 digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Adyson Roberts, who had nine digs and one assist.

The victory made it two in a row for Moose Lake/Willow River and bumps their season record up to 10-6. As for Pine City, they dropped their record down to 5-21 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Moose Lake/Willow River will take on Floodwood at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Pine City, they will face off against Hinckley-Finlayson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
