Soccer Game Preview: Picayune vs. Hattiesburg

The Picayune Maroon Tide are taking a road trip to take on the Hattiesburg Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Picayune's offense. They lost 7-0 to West Jones on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Maroon Tide have lost by exactly seven goals.

Meanwhile, Hattiesburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against Pearl River Central, falling 7-0.

This is the second loss in a row for Picayune and nudges their season record down to 4-7. As for Hattiesburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12-2.

Everything went Picayune's way against Hattiesburg in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as Picayune made off with an 8-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Picayune since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
