Softball Recap: Braddock Takes a Loss

If Braddock was riding high fresh off their 22-1 takedown of Coral Park on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs took an 18-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ferguson Falcons on Thursday. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 16-5.

Anais Gonzalez was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in five of her eight plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emily Cancio, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

Braddock now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Ferguson, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-10 record this season.

Braddock will host Miami Beach at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hi Tides have averaged an impressive 11.1 runs per game this season. As for Ferguson, they will venture away from home to challenge St. Brendan at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sabres have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
