Softball Recap: Ninety Six's Run of Six Straight Wins Now Over

Ninety Six dropped their record down to 21-6 on Monday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They lost 8-1 to the Saluda Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since April 24, 2024.

Ninety Six saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Laural Fleming, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

As for Saluda, their win was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-4-1. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Saluda's side, Miller Martin made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Martin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Karen A was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jayme Sheaffer, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

As of now, neither Ninety Six nor Saluda have any future games scheduled.
