Basketball Game Preview: Dickinson Gators vs. Deer Park Deer

The Dickinson Gators will challenge the Deer Park Deer at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dickinson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Deer Park likes a good challenge.

Dickinson is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Clear Falls just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 63-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (56), the Gators still had to take the loss.

Despite their loss, Dickinson saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. David Chong, who posted 14 points and seven boards, was perhaps the best of all. Valin Idusuyi was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Deer Park came up short against Clear Springs on Saturday, falling 71-50. While losing is never fun, the Deer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 521st, while the Chargers are ranked 39th).

Deer Park has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-18 record this season. As for Dickinson, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-12.

Dickinson took their victory against Deer Park when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 77-51. Will Dickinson repeat their success, or does Deer Park have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
