Recap: Stratford Knights vs. Colleton County Cougars
The Stratford Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 82-65 bruising from Colleton County. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Stratford still got an impressive performance from Amari Washington, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Nizhier Baldwin, who scored 16 points.
Colleton County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nick Williams led the charge by scoring 16 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mykeem Gant, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Stratford has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Colleton County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-6.
Stratford's road trip will continue as they head out to face Wando at 2:30 p.m. on January 13th. Wando will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. Colleton County will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on May River at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (May River is ranked 104th, while Colleton County is ranked 82nd).
