Baseball Recap: Kyle Bullman Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Valley

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ritchie County, St. Marys was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Valley Lumberjacks a 14-0 shutout. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Lumberjacks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Kyle Bullman was a standout: he scored two runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Ayden Powell, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-3.

St. Marys' victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Valley, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Marys will square off against Gilmer County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Gilmer County will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something St. Marys surely won't give up without a fight. As for Valley, they will face off against Tyler at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tyler has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.2 runs per game on average), something Valley will no doubt try to take advantage of.
