Baseball Game Preview: Miller Grove Hornets vs. Lone Oak Buffaloes

The Miller Grove Hornets will venture away from home to take on the Lone Oak Buffaloes at 1:40 p.m. on Saturday. Miller Grove is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.

Miller Grove lost 16-1 to Quitman on Friday.

Miller Grove saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Clements, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Lone Oak made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cumby on Thursday. Everything went Lone Oak's way against Cumby as Lone Oak made off with a 10-1 win. Considering the Buffaloes' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Cason McBride spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Lone Oak let Clayton Wallace and Moises Perez run wild. Wallace scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Perez scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2. Those two runs gave Perez a new career-high. Kallan Patterson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Lone Oak hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cumby struck out eight times.

Lone Oak's victory ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-2. As for Miller Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
