Softball Game Preview: San Juan Spartans vs. Lindhurst Blazers

For the second straight game, San Juan will face off against Lindhurst. The Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blazers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. San Juan has given up an average of 19.1 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

San Juan came up short against Lindhurst on Monday, falling 14-3. The loss continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Blazers: they've now lost four in a row.

For Lindhurst's part, Abella Ramirez made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts Ramirez has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Evelyn Kupser and Kimberly Diaz-Valadez did most of the damage at the plate: Kupser got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Diaz-Valadez went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. That double was Kupser's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Michelle Lockhart, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.

The win (which was Lindhurst's sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for San Juan, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.
