Lakeland and Eastside are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Lakers will challenge the Blazers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lakeland will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Lakeland came out on top against Elkhart Christian Academy on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run fifth inning. The Lakers put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 11-0 victory. The Lakers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by eight runs or more this season.

Levi Cook made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last 12 matchups.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keyan Arroyo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Riehl, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Lakeland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elkhart Christian Academy only posted a batting average of .250.

Meanwhile, Eastside came up short against Westview on Thursday and fell 5-1. The Blazers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lakeland pushed their record up to 23-4 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Eastside, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Lakeland took their win against Eastside when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 8-0 score. Do the Lakers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blazers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
