Softball Recap: Worthington Kilbourne's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Worthington Kilbourne brought some dynamite into their most recent game. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Westland Cougars a 14-0 shutout on Friday. While the Wolves didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Becca Boue made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Boue' was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Karris Stuttard was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Scarlett Elder, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

Worthington Kilbourne kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win snapped Worthington Kilbourne's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-3 record. As for Westland, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Worthington Kilbourne will welcome Westerville North at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.09 runs per game on average), something the Wolves will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Westland, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 22-15 loss against Centennial on the 12th.
