Basketball Game Preview: Dyett Eagles vs. Thornwood Thunderbirds + Official Tickets

The Dyett Eagles will take on the Thornwood Thunderbirds in a holiday battle at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Thursday, Dyett was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-44 to Perspectives-IIT/Joslin. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dyett's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jesus Mitchell-Hightower, who posted 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Jerremiah Jackson, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine boards. Mitchell-Hightower is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cameron Fox, who scored ten points.

Meanwhile, Thornwood fought the good fight in their overtime game against Bloom on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blazing Trojan by a score of 83-80. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (58), the Thunderbirds still had to take the loss.

Having lost for the first time this season, Thornwood fell to 7-1. As for Dyett, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Dyett didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Thornwood when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 47-42 victory.
