Fort Collins had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 56-0 win over the Northglenn Norsemen. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lambkins' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Norsemen are ranked 127th).
Fort Collins had a senior duo take command as Justin Cranford threw for 154 yards and four TDs while completing 85.7% of his passes and Jack McKeon gained 178 total yards and two touchdowns. Cranford showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 58 yards.
Fort Collins' run defense was locked in: Northglenn could only muster 3.2 yards per carry. While nine picked up at least two total tackles, McKeon stood above the rest. He rushed for 145 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries, and also picked up 33 receiving yards and one score. Fort Collins didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.6.
Fort Collins didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kaden Souders and Jaden Smith. Wesley Davis was another major factor on D, picking up two sacks and making four total tackles.
Northglenn's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Fort Collins has already played their next match, a 25-13 victory against Eaglecrest on the 5th. As for Northglenn, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 45-13 win against Prairie View on the 5th.
