The Orcutt Academy Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Cabrillo Conquistadores at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Thursday, Orcutt Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Santa Ynez and fell 3-2. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Orcutt Academy wouldn't go down easily and took Santa Ynez into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking eight-point loss. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-16, 22-25, 25-16, 15-7.

Despite the defeat, Orcutt Academy had strong showings from Charlie Stewart, who had 20 digs, and Seamus Gault, who had 12 kills, nine digs, and two blocks. Gault is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had five or more in each of the last ten games he's played dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Cabrillo had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on San Luis Obispo Classical Academy with a sharp 3-0 victory on Thursday. The Conquistadores not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since February 25th.
The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-12, 25-17.
Cabrillo's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Orcutt Academy, they suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 14-2.
Orcutt Academy came up short against Cabrillo in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 3-1. Can Orcutt Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
