Baseball Recap: Winthrop's Run of Three Straight Victories Now Over

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Winthrop can now relate to. They fell 6-3 to the Dirigo Cougars on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-6 back in May.

Winthrop saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Collin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Winthrop moved to 9-8 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Dirigo, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.

Winthrop does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dirigo, they will face off against Maranacook at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Black Bears will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
