Basketball Recap: Gary West Side Piles Up the Points Against Highland

It's playoff time, and Gary West Side had no trouble coming through when it counted. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Highland Trojans 74-33. That's more bragging rights for the Cougars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Despite the loss, Highland saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Danijel Zekavica posted eight points. Thanks to that strong game, Zekavica now owns an excellent 46% shooting accuracy.

Gary West Side is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.4 points over those games. Highland is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-14.

Gary West Side didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 72-38 win against Calumet New Tech on the 7th. Highland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
