Baseball Recap: Annandale Takes a Loss

Annandale extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 3-4 in the process. They lost 13-2 to the Big Lake Hornets. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Annandale saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tommy Halverson, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Austin Politte also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for Big Lake, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Big Lake's side, Brendan Goedker was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave Goedker a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Trenton Throolin, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Annandale will square off against Dassel-Cokato at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Big Lake, they will venture away from home to challenge Zimmerman at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
