Softball Recap: Breakthrough Charter vs. Maplesville Red Devils
Breakthrough Charter extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-10. They came up short against the Maplesville Red Devils, falling 17-0. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against Maplesville this season, with their most recent loss being a 16-0 defeat back in April.
As for Maplesville, they pushed their record up to 30-17 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 24 games by six runs or more this season.
For Maplesville's part, Mollie Kayte Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Smith has posted over her last six contests. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season.
