Basketball Recap: Spalding Comes Up Short

Spalding lost against Troup County back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Spalding Jaguars took a 65-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Troup County Tigers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (56), the Jaguars still had to take the loss.

Leading Troup County to victory were Jalen Brown and DEE MORELAND. Brown went 10 for 19 en route to 24 points along with six boards and four steals, while MORELAND went 7 of 13 on his way to 17 points. That's the most steals Brown has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Desmon Cunningham, who posted six points.

Spalding has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Troup County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spalding and Upson-Lee will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Spalding's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for Troup County, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Fayette County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Troup County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68.1 points per game this season.
