Softball Recap: St. Anthony Beats Effingham for Their Third Straight Win

St. Anthony took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Effingham, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Flaming Hearts on Wednesday. The win was familiar territory for the Bulldogs, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Nancy Ruholl spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Julia Schultz was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March of 2025. Lilly Gannaway also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

St. Anthony's record is now 14-9. As for Effingham, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-10.

St. Anthony will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Flaming Hearts: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
