Baseball Game Preview: Gateway Charter Griffins vs. Oasis Sharks

For the first time this season, Gateway Charter will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out to challenge the Oasis Sharks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither Gateway Charter nor Oasis posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

On Saturday, Gateway Charter came up short against Mulberry and fell 6-2.

Gateway Charter saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Yosmay Veliz, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Veliz has posted since March 3rd.

Meanwhile, Oasis lost 13-1 to Imagine School at North Port on Friday. Oasis has struggled against Imagine School at North Port recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Gateway Charter has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. Oasis' defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.

Gateway Charter suffered a grim 15-2 defeat to Oasis in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Gateway Charter avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
