Softball Recap: Mayfield Wildcats vs. North Rangers
Mayfield extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 7-14 in the process. They fell 11-6 to the North Rangers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rangers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-3 back in April.
Ella Garrett made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Sarah Piazza, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for North, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-14. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games.
On North's side, Maddy Ferrari was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those three hits gave Ferrari a new career-high. Gianna Latini was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Mayfield has already played their next match, a 9-8 win against Nordonia on the 16th. As for North, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-1 victory against Normandy on the 20th.
