Fairfield had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They beat the Valley Indians on Thursday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 2-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Lions, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Fairfield's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-16-1.

Looking ahead, Fairfield will take on Portsmouth West in a tournament on Friday. Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
