Softball Recap: Mountain View Gets the Win

After only one run in their last contest, Mountain View made sure to put some runs up on the board against Boise on Thursday. The Mavericks walked away with a 10-5 win over the Brave. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Brave recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Mountain View got a great performance from Katy Jackson as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Jackson has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Aleynah Vega and Kiki Bangham did most of the damage at the plate: Vega went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Bangham went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Kaitlyn Van Winkle was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Mountain View's record now sits at 8-5. As for Boise, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-7.

Coming up, Mountain View will be playing in front of their home fans against Centennial at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.26 runs per game on average), something the Mavericks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Boise, they will head out to square off against Kuna at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Kavemen will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Brave surely won't give up without a fight.
