Football Recap: Calvary Christian Sets Scoring Season-High Against Northside Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Calvary Christian). They blew past the Northside Christian Mustangs 56-36 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won three matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

Jack Wang went supernova, rushing for 122 yards and one score on only 12 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Calvary Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 343 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Calvary Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gavin Holloway and Tripp Foote. Foote has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last six times he's played.

When it comes to explaining why Northside Christian lost, don't look at Jayce Jones. Despite the final result, he picked up 101 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also punched in one TD on the ground. Another player making a difference was MacRae Allen, who picked up 104 receiving yards and one score.

Calvary Christian now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Northside Christian, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Calvary Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Petersburg at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. The Warriors are facing the Green Devils at the right time seeing as the Green Devils are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Northside Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 48-6 loss against St. Petersburg Catholic on the 10th.
